Participatory Design Research
-Research Scenario

As AI robots increasingly aim to replace staff, vulnerable users are often left behind. We saw a gap between technological advancement and human inclusivity—where efficiency often overshadowed empathy and accessibility.
Through participatory design involving on-site observation, interviews, and rapid prototyping in nursing homes, hospitals, and restaurants, we reframed the goal toward human augmentation—addressing four unmet needs: access, privacy, dignity, and emotional connection.

Research Findings

Caption: Findings synthesized from extensive data analysis and field observations during Participatory Design sessions.
We ran participatory design in nursing homes, hospitals, and restaurants—observations, interviews, and quick prototypes.
Four needs emerged: Access (reach & understand for kids and seated elders), Privacy & Dignity (non-exposing, lockable handover), Emotion (warm, readable cues to calm/engage), and Staff Relief (lower peak-hour cognitive/emotional load).
